MUSIC VIDEO 2 Hour Chanting: Long Life AMITAYUS Dharani in SANSKRIT; Dedicated to health of Garchen Rinpoche

Feature Contents

DEDICATED TO THE LONG LIFE of HIS EMINENCE GARCHEN RINPOCHE and all of our teachers. His Holiness Chungtsang Rinpoche requested world sangha to accumulate Amitayus Dharani and mantras for the benefit and long life and good health of Garchen Rinpoche.

    Garchen Rinpoche
    His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche

Welcome. This recitation is offered as a golden thread of prayers for the long life, unwavering health, and radiant activity of our precious teacher, Garchen Rinpoche.

In the Mahayana tradition, the longevity of a realized master is not merely a personal matter; it is the manifestation of compassionโ€”the living link between the enlightened mind and our ordinary world. As we recite the Amitayus Dharani, we are not asking for mere existence. We are invoking the quality of life: the life of wisdom, the life of compassion, and the life that is free from the obstructions of ignorance.

Let us enter the sacred syllablesโ€ฆ

    CONTEXT or โ€œTranslationโ€:

โ€˜Namo Bhagavateโ€™ย โ€“ I pay homage to the Blessed One, the Bhagavan, the One who has conquered the four maras of delusion.

โ€˜Aparimitฤyurโ€™ย โ€“ This is the core.ย Aparimitaย means โ€˜Boundlessโ€™ or โ€˜Immeasurable.โ€™ย Ayurย means โ€˜Lifeโ€™ or โ€˜Vitality.โ€™ So we bow to the โ€˜Boundless Life.โ€™

โ€˜Jรฑฤna Suviniล›citateโ€™ย โ€“ This is not just a long life, but a life that is โ€˜Perfectly and Clearly Determined by Wisdom.โ€™ It is the wisdom that sees the nature of reality.

Oแน, the primordial sound of the body, speech, and mind of the Buddhas.
    We recite:ย Puแน‡ya, Mahฤ Puแน‡ya, Aparimita Puแน‡ya.
Puแน‡yaย is โ€˜Meritโ€™โ€”the positive potential accumulated through virtue.
    Mahฤ Puแน‡yaย is โ€˜Great Merit.โ€™
    Aparimita Puแน‡yaย is โ€˜Immeasurable Merit.โ€™

    โ€˜Oแน Sarva Saแนƒskฤra Pariล›uddha Dharmateโ€™ย โ€“ย Sarvaย means โ€˜All.โ€™ย Saแนƒskฤraย means โ€˜Conditioned phenomenaโ€™ or โ€˜Mental formations.โ€™ย Pariล›uddhaย means โ€˜Thoroughly Purified.โ€™ย Dharmateย means โ€˜The nature of realityโ€™ or โ€˜Dharmata.โ€™

    โ€˜Gagaแน‡a Samudgateโ€™ย โ€“ย Gagaแน‡aย is โ€˜Spaceโ€™โ€”the vast, open sky.ย Samudgateย means โ€˜Risen toโ€™ or โ€˜Transcended to.โ€™
    โ€˜Svabhฤva Pariล›uddheโ€™ย โ€“ โ€˜Naturally and utterly pure in its own essence.โ€™

โ€˜Mahฤnayaโ€™ย โ€“ย Mahฤย means โ€˜Great.โ€™ย Nayaย means โ€˜Guidance,โ€™ โ€˜Method,โ€™ or โ€˜Path.โ€™ It is the Great Vehicle, the profound path of Bodhicitta.

โ€˜Parivฤreโ€™ย โ€“ Means โ€˜Retinueโ€™ or โ€˜Entourage.โ€™ This signifies all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Dharma protectors who surround the Buddha of Boundless Life.

โ€˜Svฤhฤโ€™ย โ€“ This is the final consecration. It means โ€˜So be it,โ€™ โ€˜Hail,โ€™ or โ€˜May the blessings take root.โ€™ It is the offering of the heart, the sealing of the prayer into reality.

โ€˜Aparimitฤyur Puแน‡ya Jรฑฤna Saแนƒbhฤro Paciteโ€™ย โ€“ This is the crucial turning point. It translates to: โ€˜One who is perfected (or adorned) by the accumulation of merit and wisdom of immeasurable life.โ€™
