Vajrakilaya Heruka Buddha, the wrathful aspects of Vajrasattva Buddha, crowned by Amoghasiddhi, is the Heruka of the great Activity Karma Family of Tara and Amoghasiddhi. When we need “sligltly more active” activity we turn to Vajrakilaya and Tara Diptachakra, the wrathful aspects of Amoghasiddhi and Tara. Famously, they are the “activity of all the Buddhas.

Supreme Activity Day is on the first quarter moon, the 8th Day of the lunar month. We celebrate with practices of Tara and Amoghasiddhi, or if we need more energy, we think of Vajrakilaya and Tara Diptachakra. If we need healing activity we think of Medicine Buddha. It is called “Supreme Activity” because merit is multiplied on the waxing quarter moon day.

For a feature on the Four Lunar extra merit days, see>>

Although Sadhanas and deep practices of Vajrakilaya require empowerment, anyone can invite the blessings of the Activity family with offerings, Refuge and mantras, in Puja form with FRONTAL GENERATION (Vajrakilaya visualized in front of you.) 3Gems Band has a magnificent Puja with mantras of the great Lord of Activity of the Five Buddhas, Vajrakilaya:

Supreme Vajrakilaya: 5 Activities of the Buddhas!

Vajrakilaya ⚡ ⚡ ⚡ is the most “cutting” of wrathful meditational deities — a wrathful Heruka (‘hero’) emanation of glorious Vajrasattva, crowned by Amoghasiddhi. 🙏 🙏 🙏

He is the wrathful emanation of Vajrasattva, his peaceful form, who we see in peaceful meditation with vajra and bell. In his energetic form we see him heroically leaping, dancing and embracing his wisdom consort Tara Diptachakra. This is Enlightened Buddha Compassionate Method and Wisdom leaping into heroic activity. Another way of thinking of him is in the same way we might regard a First Responder — a heroic and safe rescuer.

🎵  His mantra, here powerfully performed by 3 Gems Band is the most effective and sacred Dharma formula for cutting, and destroying the obstacles and poisons that afflict us in Samsara. (NOTE: Here we include Refuge and offerings, which are necessary for any Buddhist mantra practice.) ⚡ ⚡ ⚡

He is the “FIRST RESPONDER” of the Buddha Families. Paradoxically, and with supreme wisdom, Kyabje Garchen Rinpoche calls him the “face of great love.” This is love transformed into activities and method to help all beings. In the case of Vajrakilaya, Vajrasattva’s wrathful form, he uses irresistable force to overcome our issues.

    Vajrakumara, the Diamond Son

Also called Vajrakumara, or the Diamond Son, he is most famous as the “Activity of All Five Buddha Families.” His mighty meteoric Phurba pins the five poisons and destroy the 8 dangers. He was one of the main Yidams of Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava. He is also the main yidam family of the Sakya tradition.

    HH on throne in SF
    His Holiness the Sakya Trichen.

🙏 🙏 🙏 His Holiness the Sakya Trichen explained:

“Vajrakilaya’s magnitude of wisdom, extensive benevolence, and efficaciousness, ability and so forth are why this has been the main deity practice of (our) hereditary tradition. Not only that, no matter what appearance as the so-called enemy … hindrances and obstacles, there is no better approach than Vajrakilaya.”

    🙏 🙏 🙏 MANTRA: In Sanskrit:

Oṃ vajra kīli kīlaya sarva vighnan vaṃ hūṃ phaṭ!

English: OM! O Vajra Kilaya, strike! Destroy all obstacles! VAṂ HŪṂ PHAṬ!

    Tibetan:

Oṃ benza kīli kīlaya sarva bighnan baṃ hung pey!

    • NOTE: VAM in Sanskrit is Vajrakilaya’s sacred Seed Syllable. In Tibetan this becomes BAM. Hum (Sanskrit ) is Hung in Tibetan.s
    • NOTE on NAME: Vajra Kilaya (Sanskrit) is sometimes translated as Dorje Phurba (Tibetan). (Vajra = Dorje and Kila = Phurba.
