His Holiness Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche achieved paranirvana on December 27, 2011, leaving behind countless students, who benefited from his many teachings. He was known for profound dharma talks and books that reached countless sentient beings in many nations.
He was a descendent of the dharma king Trisong Detsen of Tibet and was the eldest son of His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche. In temples and sanghas around the world, students of the lineage will honor their teacher with Vajrasattva practice and recitations of the hundred syllable mantra. According to Riwoche Tibetan Temple, "This will help purify our collective defilements in order to receive the ever-flowing nectar of blessing from H.H. Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche. Khenpo Sonam Rinpoche encourages all Riwoche sangha members to offer prayers and join in the tsok offering."

Comment by Buddha Weekly on January 5, 2012 at 6:59pm My personal sorrow at His Holiness Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche passing is very deep. He touched many of us with his profound teachings and empowerments. I missed him in both 2006 and 2009 when he visited the Riwoche Sangha, and I regret it to this day. I will certainly offer prayers and the 100 syllable mantra.
